LIBERTY FALLING

Sweet Liberty's crown falling
Through cerulean rectangles recalling
Similar circumstances
Retrieved from recollections of Dallas
Now being seen by Alice
Through whose Looking Glass
Dreams worlds unfold
And collide
With a Thousand and One Arabian Nights
Pushed aside by the thundering footsteps
Of young Camouflaged Knights
In search of glory and myth
Trying to stop Attilla the Hun
Like a sandstorm Battle of Tours
Marking both an end and a beginning
As the midnight moon's light is scattered
Across the distant horizon of home
Wondering if it really matters
Just how high the Dow Jones Average climbs
Or watching little red arrows
And diagrams of destruction
Sweeping up lost sparrows
Flying off course
While searching for a way back
Through a manganese wall
Lying on its side
Near roadmaps leading to a momentary escape
Where Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane
Find themselves on a slate grey morning
Leaving behind signs and symbols of the city
Calculating time by sunrise and sunset
Floating across the cerulean blue
Coming full circle
Captured in rectangles
Like Catch-22
