The Raven has vanished
Silent ticking remains
As the pendulum marks the spot
An end and a beginning
Never the same
Warm moist air blowing
The hurricane out to sea
A curtain of sorts
Laying tattered and torn
A flood tide of change in the wind
Shock waves drifting out to sea
As Romeo wanders aimlessly
Hearing of disappearances
From the bottom of the earth
And nearer to home
Reports of missing faces
Vanished without traces
Brought to life on tabloid pages
Spanning decades of memory
Floating fragmentary clues
Just above the news
Sound bites competing
With daily headlines
Of corruption and greed
No retreating
The writing is on the wall
Billy the Kid surveys the scene
Just outside the door
Where Cassandra sits with her thoughts
A fair wind has brought them here
The days are long
The nights are clear
Only the sound of gentle waves
Marks the passing of the days
A journey beyond the Looking Glass
Emerging on the other side
Where the sound of the pendulum
