HAZARD SIGNS

Forgotten icons of Fifties fame
Fading away
Somewhere near those caves
In the north of Spain
While the pendulum swings
And the total eclipse of the heart
Moves through the scene
Sandwiched between shear lines
And movement in time
The Man on the moon thrilled us all
Black and white movement
Through the day and night
Stunned at unimaginable sights
Etched in our minds
Stealing our youth away
Recalling clandestine meetings
Just beneath the Ishtar Gate
Great civilizations and thoughts
Come and gone
Like dreams and unplanned schemes
Mercury's winged feet drifting
Waiting to be discovered
On some alluvial plain
Where arrows meet
And details stand out
In bas relief
Meanings revealed
When all the guests unmask
Down along the Seine
Where champagne flows
Like a river
And all the shadows are revealed
Where the hazard signs
No longer scream
And everybody has finally arrived
Toasting the final Garden Party
Wishing Ricky could be there
