Racing wildly time lapse style
Across a dreamscape
Where neon illuminates
A shadowy figure racing
Round and round
In the stillness of the night
Like Ryder's pale horseman
Footsteps barely touching the ground
As mannikins begin arriving
Two by two
Across asphalt and rock
Left behind as an afterthought
Vague faces staring out
Billy the Kid recalling them all
One standing out from the rest
Her smile last seen
Hanging on Leonardo's wall
Now asking Van Gogh
If he remembers her at all
As they walk along the street
Where Magritte-like figures scurry about
Hurrying to avoid
The fast moistness of raindrops
Unfelt by Billy the Kid
Now standing near Mona Lisa
Soon hearing voices
Speaking words unclear
Then their eyes exchanging glances
Revealing thoughts
Hidden within a house of cards
Stacked layer upon layer
Revealing everything in dreams
Exposing nothing in reality
Scenes shifting
As if in a play
Staged in a netherworld
Or maybe just up North
Near Monteray Bay
Time rushing by
Hearing voices from the side
While Billy the Kid looks up
Seeking shimmering reminders
Of Venus between footsteps
Disappeanng with the dawn
