SPANISH PLAIN

Coming back upon itself
The line comes full circle
Ghostly figures come to light
The eyes of Robert Perry search
Questioning the landscape ahead
Running head on
Seeing Dread Scott coming to life
His gaze fixed and frozen
Horizons unfolding
Memories returning
Visions floating
Into perspectives vanishing
Planet Earth falling from orbit
Shorty Harris evaporating
Becoming a dark silhouette
His accomplishments lost in the dust
One too many mornings
Bright metal turning to rust
Van Gogh staring at this strange scene
Thinking there might be some meaning
Just as sure there's not
Quiet music fills the empty room
Where he comes to lay out his thoughts
Sifting through them carefully
Each one holds a memory
Just waiting to be unlocked
Recalling footsteps leading
To Fair Juliet's domain
Sequestered as it is
From the mainstream
Sitting quietly in a director's chair
He has a strange feeling
Having once been there
The words are the same
But the faces have been changed
All the Montague's are gone
Leaving behind men in suits
Juliet speaks to Van Gogh in complimentary fashion
She seems to appreciate his creations
Ideas born of combinations
Finding a home
If only in his mind
Doing what he does
Creating a sense of order
Where there was none
Ambiquities abound
Causing others to wonder about meanings
Van Gogh can't stop to explain
The bus from Arles just left
Headed for the Spanish plain
