A MAN AND A WOMAN TOO

Triangles floating on eggshell white
Amber and cadmium yellow flashing
Long into another newsworthy night
As circles of confusion multiply
A question of sounds
If no one is there
To hear the cries
Did they exist
Was it a lie
Unbelievable images unfolding
So surreal yet not unexpected
When warning signs seemed so clear
Yet gone unheeded
The years erased in split seconds
Falling from the limelight
Into the depths of police lights
Flashing with repetitious regularity
As pedestals go crashing to the ground
And icons falling from grace
Priorities turned upside down
Where do we go from here
When voices quite clear
Echo throughout the dream
As a fragile reminder floats
Softly and quietly up stream
Gentle memories coalesce
Meeting like two strangers
In a strange and different place
A wedge in time
A chance to step out of the race
Communicating face to face
Not counting metaphors drifting
Across well remembered thoughts
Searching through and through
Off in the cold distance
A Man and a Woman too
