Cadmium waves of flickering light
Last remnants of dying embers
Fending off the coming night
Barely warming the entourage
Holding court within the thoughts
Of Billy the Kid crouched
Within the lines of cerulean doubt
Which help ease the transition
From out there
To in here
Deep within the silence unfolding
As the sounds of night emerge
Wrapped around visions
Of arrows pointing
Directions upon the pristine white
Off walls gone tumbling down
Just like Jericho
The years but a dream
Faces forming upon nameless textures
Emerging in and out
Eyes staring at honors
Placed upon triangles folded
Laid across mahogony and brass
Dark glasses hiding eyes
Filled with tears
Not knowing just why they're here
Hearing echoes of drum rolls
Stars and stripes folded
Within the triangle of thoughts
The lone butterfly circling above
Last remnants of the Dixie Company
Who knows their whereabouts
No twenty one gun salutes
Just a final silent shout
Deep within small children
Hoping someday they might find out
The how and the why
Maybe just the meaning
Walking down dusty streets
Hoping to meet
The engineer of dreams
Whose starlight train rumbles
Everynight through a young mind
The far off whistle always there
