A HANDLE ON TIME

Roman numerals on the edge
Of whatever edge there is
Neatly packaging Time
Inside and out
Caging swollen Prussian blue waves
Within geometric certainties
While a lone star hanging near
Still searching for its lost point of light
Floating above the interlocking pattern
Where hexagon windows reveal
Final resting places for lost constellations
And other random visions seen
Through telescopes and periscopes
When eyes straining to see
Glowing visions of Young Mozart
Surrounded by his creations
As the Tarot card lion roars
No longer content to be on all fours
Going in search of 33
Off in a corner beyond the trees
Somewhere south of Bangor
Between the myth and reality
Where the golden hands on the clock
No longer care to move
They're permanently frozen on a metaphor
For lifetimes driven door to door
Nothing is as it was before
Visions melting like Dali's clocks
Sunrise vanishing into sunset
Columbus trying to remember
So that he would not forget
All those faces frozen now
Within his thoughts
Attempting to grasp that handle
Atop Pandora's Box
Where hidden inside are memories
Waiting to be set free
